History

Hilltop Insulation Sleeving Products Ltd was established in 1979 by Terence Hill to exploit the niche in the market for a high quality supplier of coloured and printed cable markers. Terry also recognised the need for cut to length heat-shrink and PVC sleeves and started to design and manufacture his own products. The company began life in the loft conversion of the family home, giving birth to the name Hilltop. The business remains in the Hill family and is now managed by two of Terry’s sons – Stephen and Bryan Hill.

Hilltop Products has since developed into a specialist supplier of insulation sleevings and heat shrink tubings for commercial and industrial applications and is a one stop shop for electrical insulation, cable protection and cable identification products.

PVC sleeving is one of the many products in the product portfolio. In the early days this product was purchased externally for distribution. However in order to acquire a greater level of control over supply, and to provide a higher level of service to our customers, the decision was taken in 2001 to introduce an extrusion facility. This led to an increase in demand for the product and a subsequent investment in further extrusion lines.

Since its foundation Hilltop Products has grown considerably. During the past five years Hilltop Products have increased their workforce three-fold and have grown turnover at a rate in excess of 20% per year. Turnover for the year ending 30/06/04 was only slightly below £2million. To cope with the rapid growth rate, Hilltop management have taken the decision to acquire an additional 5000sqft of capacity. This comes only 5 years after purchasing the current purpose built production and warehousing premises.
