Pyrotape - Silicone Coated Non-Adhesive Glass Fibre Tape

Pyrotape is flexible and designed to protect wires, cables and hoses from the hazards of high heat and occasional flame. Pyrotape withstands intense heat and flame and sheds molten splash immediately. It will offer continuous protection at operating temperatures of 250°C and can withstand molten metal splash at 1650°C. The Pyrotapes provide excellent insulating properties, and also offer protection from personal burns when working near hot gases, steam lines etc. They are good for "Retro-fitting" when, for example, uncoupling hoses is not a viable option.

Continuous Operation: 500°F (260°C)
Max Short Term Exposure: 3000°F (1650°C)
Molten Splash Resistance: Outstanding
Flame Resistance: Very good
Abrasion Resistance: Very good
Flexibility: Outstanding
Water and Oil Resistance: Outstanding

Rubber Self-Amalgamating Tape

Can be used with Pyrosleeves as a method of sealing the Pyro Sleeve end to the hose. The rubber is self-fusing and provides a moisutre barrier. It can be wrapped around complex shapes and is flame retardant.

Outstanding Molten Splash Protection

Pyrotape is a knitted glass fibre tape, heavily coated with high grade, proprietary compound of iron oxide red silicone rubber. The specially designed compound sheds molten metal splash immediately, so very little heat transfer occurs.

Pyrotape can withstand repeated exposures to molten steel, molten aluminum and molten glass, up to 3000°F (1650°C).

High Temperature Protection for Hoses and Cables

Pyrotape withstands continuous exposure to 500°F (260°C), up to 2000°F (1090°C) for 15-20 minutes, and up to 3000°F (1650°C) for 15-30 seconds.

When exposed to flame, the silicone rubber transforms to a crust, creating a protective SiO2 refractory layer.

Non-adhesive Install, without Disconnection

Pyrotape has an excellent modulus of elasticity and can wrap any diameter hose or cable - typically in a spiral wrap with a 50% overlap. Can be installed without disconnecting hoses or cables.

Available in sizes up to 5" (127mm) wide - 100mm and 127mm available upon request, please contact our Sales Team.
